Financial Barriers for Green Energy

In many part of the world, growth has been deeply skewed in favor of the rich and it has been environmentally destructive. Given the current trajectory of global fossil-fuel use, the temperature is likely to rise by 4 o C to 6 o C above pre-industrial levels (Sachs, 2019). However,   the global investment in renewable energy has declined 3% in 2017 and there is a risk that it will slow further. Albeit the government has put a great endeavor to campaign on green energy, the global finance economy system along with the investors still have no interest embarking it. The following essay will cover some reasons behind this lack of awareness in low carbon energy. Renewable energy is a long-term investment which cannot be fulfilled by the public sector in most countries, while on the other hand the private sector does not show enough interest. The main reason is the low rate of return and the associated risks (Yoshino and Taghizadeh H, 2018). In Asia, the financial system is dominated b...

Labour in figure

Infrastructure development Meeting Asia’s Infrastructure Needs, a report by Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI) shows an infrastructure study which cover 45 of its developing member countries (DMCs) and four sectors of development: transport, power, telecommunications, and water supply and sanitation. Two sets of estimates are presented. The first includes the costs of climate mitigation and adaptation (climate-adjusted estimate). Using this set of estimates, developing Asia will need to invest $26 trillion over the 15-years from 2016 to 2030, or $1.7 trillion per year. The second set of estimates does not include climate-adjusted costs (baseline estimate), and amounts to $22.6 trillion, or $1.5 trillion per year. Despite the lack of comprehensive data on actual infrastructure across countries, developing Asia has seen dramatic improvements in its infrastructure. Better access to infrastructure has driven growth, reduced poverty, and improved people’s lives. Yet over 400 mil...

Crisis of Humanity

Despite of being the most smart creature, we homo sapiens are largely facing lack of humanity values. The theory of modern economy sparked by Adam Smith has totally tortured us in the name of equality, peace, and fairly wealth distribution, either the inherent doctrine of “a low expense for the greatest income” has. Moreover, his believe which we praise a lot as “the most modern” economy system has been roughly obsessing to every human soul since the Industry Revolution. As what Bill Gates had predicted, our economy system has yet to plan how to handle a pandemic of a disease. Laterly on February 2020, the WHO declared the covid-19 has been being a world pandemic disease after spreading largely in almost every nation. This pandemic has severely encouraged the authority to put all strengths in order to save humanity in which a failure will cause a massive death. At this point, what really lied at the bottom of government’s heart would surely appear to the public sight. Deciding a ...
